About us

roscommonanimals.com is the online home of the Roscommon branch of the ISPCA (Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). We are a non-profit organisation run by people who volunteer their time. We look out for the care and protection of animals in County Roscommon.

We believe that animals should have

* Freedom from hunger, thirst and malnutrition

* Freedom from discomfort

* Freedom from disease and injury

* Freedom to behave normally

* Freedom from distress and fear

Last December we were delighted to get a grant of 12,000 Euro (2006) and 10,000 Euro (2007) from the Department of Agriculture, and we are indeed very grateful for this. Without that money the Society would not be able to cope. We have received a grant from the Department for the past few years. Unfortunately though, we still have to do a huge amount of fundraising in order to keep going. We use private boarding kennels for the rescued dogs, and this, and vet bills cost a lot of money.
