Charley is a Shih Tzu and is about two years of age. He has been neutered and is fully vaccinated and is ready for a new home. Like all longer haired dogs he will require a considerable amount of grooming to keep him in good condition so will need a home where his carers have time to pamper him. If you would like to consider homing Charley please email us or telephone on 087.050.5594.
Scruffy is another rescue from the pound, we think she is 3-4 years old and know she is very cute, her tail is always wagging, she is a happy little girl.
She has little bit of hair loss on her nose and her back but we don’t see any skin damage or infection. We feel sure she will come back into condition once she settles in her foster home. She is fully housetrained, sits on command, and seems a very bright little thing. Loves going outside and running around the back garden and she would be a great little guard dog as she barks if anyone passes the front of the house.
Scruffy gets on great with the other dogs in her foster home and doesn’t get up on the couches even if the others do, she prefers to cuddle on her bed. She doesn’t cry at night, and goes off to bed no problem, is good on the lead too. She will make a great pet for someone, either as an only pet, or as an additional dog. She will be fully vaccinated and spayed before rehoming. If you would like to meet Scruffy and consider homing her please email us your details or call on 087.050.5594.
Nipper is another puppy rescued from the pound – he is a collie cross, about 6 months old. He has been neutered and had his vaccinations so he is just waiting for that someone special to appreciate and care for him. If you would like to consider homing Nipper please either email us or telephone 087.050.5594.
We have rescued Toby from the pound this week, he was surrendered by his owners. He is listed as a Springer Spaniel but seems more like a Cocker Spaniel and has a beautiful Blue Roan coat. He is spending his first afternoon of freedom romping around the countryside after which he will be experiencing a wonderful bath before any pictures can be taken. He is about a year old and doesn’t seem to be lead trained, or maybe that is due in part to his enthusiasm. He has a lovely nature and seems happy to mix with other dogs. He is fully vaccinated and will be neutered prior to homing. Once he has settled in more we will let you know more about him. Hopefully pictures will be uploaded over the weekend, but meantime if you are interested in offering Toby a new home please email us on call on 087.050.5594.
We called this Labrador Augustus (Gus), he was found wandering the main road between Carrowbehy and Loughglynn on the 16th of August last. He clearly had no idea how to look after himself, from his condition he seemed to have been on the road for some considerable time. He was very thin and dehyrdrated and could hardly put one foot in front of the other, we knew from quite a distance he was in trouble. When we approached him he literally just lay down to be picked up. What was also immediately apparent was he had Glaucoma so his vision was severely imparied. From the state of his coat he seemed to have been sleeping on the bog – perhaps that is where he was abandoned.
We knew Gus would take some time to get back into shape we felt honored he was willing to trust that we would care for him.
After the first week of gradually building him up with small amounts of food several times a day we felt he was sufficently strong to visit the vet for a better assessment of how he was progressing. During his first week he had improved greatly however our fears for his progress were dealt a heavy blow when the vet confirmed he had stomach cancer the advancement of which together with his estimated age of 9 years meant he would likely not survive an operation. At that point his foster carer knew we would not home Gus and decided he would have the best of whatever time he had left with us. For all of his ailments he was very jolly most days loving to shadow his carer. He loved his romps around the garden although he couldn’t go for long walks, he could still have fun exploring. Gus particularly took a shine to any lady he met and seemed to melt in their presence. He particularly enjoyed an extensive array of specially cooked cuisine and although in all other ways he was a very diginfied gentleman when it came to food he ate with great gusto!
We very sadly had to say farewell to Gus last week after what we hope were the best six months of his life. Up until his last week he showed how much he appreciated the care and attention bestowed upon him, he would love to ramble around the garden and when his sight began to fail him his sense of smell would never allow him to miss out on a treat. His last super was some very expensive ham which he refused to share with anyone else! He has left a large space in his foster home which can never to replaced. We write this tribute to him because he deserves to be recognised and remembered! We may not have been able to save Gus but we provided him with a caring home for his last months. Whomever abandoned him should feel ashamed of their actions – he had been left alone to die on a bog! We will always rember Gus and he now has a suitable resting place in his own garden.
Chester is a Labrador/Collie cross about 10-12 months old, he was found abandoned and is now needing a new home. Chester has the most placid of natures, when he’s not following you around he loves to just sit at your feet. He is now getting used to a lead which we hope will also get him into better shape, he will need some further training but likes to please. He has had his first vaccination and will be neutered before homing. If you would like Chester to become your companion please contact us either via email or on 087.050.5594.
Whiskey & Brandy are two Labrador cross pups of about 12 weeks old. These boys are typical pups and still need a good deal of training and are currently being cared for by one of our foster carers. They have both had their first vaccinations and undergone the usual de-flea and de-worming to keep them happy pups. They are scheduled for second vaccination next week and will be ready for homing; they will be require to be neutered at six months. If you are able to offer them a new start and have the time to further their traning we feel sure they would make a wonderful new addition to any family.
If you would like to know more about Whiskey & Brandy please email us on call on 087.050.5594.
Murphy and Reilly are Labrador crosses who were found abandoned together we are not sure of their relationship but they clearly belong together. They are being cared for by one of our fosterers and have had their initial visit to the vet for first vaccinations. Unfortunately Murphy will have to wait for his as a wound to his neck from a collar which had grown into him required immediate treatment.
We are happy to report that Murphy’s neck wound is now fully healed and they have both been vaccinated and got their booster vaccines. Their Vet is very happy with their progress.
We would love to find a home which will allow them to stay together but meanwhile they are recovering from their bad start in life and continue to be assessed. We will let you know how they get on. If you are interested in homing Murphy and Reilly please email us or call on 087.050.5594.
A black and white female Terrier has been reported missing in the Fairymount area. If anyone sees her or is caring for her please let us know by either emailing us or telephoning on 087.050.5594. She doesn’t normally stray and is a much loved pet.
Pippa was found wandering in the bog in the Ballymoe area. She is about 8-9 weeks old and is being cared for by one of our foster homes. She will be fully vaccinated before being homed and will require to be spayed once she reaches 6 months of age. She is a happy little pup who we hope will soon forget she was abandoned. Like all puppies she will need lots of attention and will need to be trained but we feel dedicated effort will be well rewarded.
If you could offer Pippa a new home please email us or telephone 087.050.5594.
